The Impact of a Sparse Peripheral Display on Plausibility in Virtual Reality

Type

Description

This project investigates the impact of a sparse peripheral display on plausibility in virtual reality. The sparse peripheral display is a low-resolution display comprised of LEDs that surrounds the central high-resolution display to enhance the field-of-view. To investigate the influence on plausibility and also the influence on presence and spatial presence, the prototype will be tested in a user study. Users will engage in a virtual bowling experience and encounter a variety of manipulations, whose effects will also be scrutinized.
